“Be Missionaries of the Word of Truth.”
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Mt 28:19-20)
Meditation
With this invite the Virgin urges us to imitate her – to not keep the Word for ourselves but to go out and pass it on to others. Our Lady, having just conceived the Word in her womb, went “with haste” to visit St Elisabeth to share the good news of salvation with her. This is what the Virgin asks us all – each in his own way – to do. In a world that is parched for the Word of God, Our Lady appeared holding the Word to demonstrate that we too must be bearers of this same Word.
Teaching of the Church
“Here we see how completely at home Mary is with the Word of God, with ease she moves in and out of it. She speaks and thinks with the Word of God; the Word of God becomes her word, and her word issues from the Word of God. Here we see how her thoughts are attuned to the thoughts of God, how her will is one with the will of God.” (Deus Caritas Est n41)
