The Joyful Mysteries (Monday and Saturdays)
Mary leads us to discover the secret of Christian joy, reminding us that Christianity is, first and foremost, euangelion, “good news”, which has as its heart and its whole content the person of Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, the one Saviour of the world.” (RVM 20)

1 The Annunciation
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the House of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. He went in and said to her, ‘Rejoice, you who enjoy God’s favour! The Lord is with you.’ Look! You are to conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus. (Lk1:26-28;31) |

2 The Visitation
And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! (Lk1:41-42) |

3 The Birth of Jesus
And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. (Lk2:7) |

4 The Presentation Of the Lord
And when the time came for their purification according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. (Lk2:22) |
